Pricing and Insurance Information

We are an out-of-network provider. This means that …

We have stepped outside of the typical insurance payment model because our services are driven by your needs, not by the demands of insurance companies. We refuse to let them dictate the length of your appointment, the frequency of your appointments, or the treatment options that you are allowed to receive.

  • Yes! When a medical practice receives reimbursement directly from insurance companies they have the authority to demand certain restrictions on your care like shorter appointment slots, a maximum number of visits per year, and a limit to the types of medications and interventions that can be prescribed. At Excel Psychiatric Associates we strongly disagree with insurance companies dictating the type of care you will receive. We don’t let insurance companies come between you and your provider.

At Excel Psychiatric Associates we have longer appointments so we can really listen to your needs and understand you. We work with you to meet as often as you need. We also work with you to select treatment options that are the very best for you.

  • This does mean that we do not receive payment directly from your insurance. Instead as an out-of-network practice, you pay the fee for each appointment up front and as a complimentary service we provide you with paperwork allowing you to directly receive reimbursement from your insurance company. We are also happy to assist you in submitting reimbursement paperwork to your insurance company.

  • We understand that sometimes the initial cost burden is hard to bear, so for clients who need extra support we have partnered with Care Credit, a credit company exclusively dedicated to helping patients cover their medical bills through low interest rate credit and easy payment plans.

  • No! We do not let insurance dictate things about your appointment but this does not mean we do not work with insurance. In fact, we work with insurance companies every single day in order to get you the best price on all of your psychiatric medications. We believe that providing a treatment you can’t afford is equal to providing no treatment at all. So, we work hard to tackle the prior authorization process so that your medications can be approved by your insurance company.

  • Did you know that many drug manufacturers offer discounts, grants, and patient assistance programs to help you cover your deductible and up-front drug costs? We know that sometimes, even after insurance approval, the cost of medication is still too far out of reach. In these situations, we work to help you take advantage of available manufacturer discount and patient assistance programs.

Integrative Health and Wellness Coaching/ Therapy sessions:

"Dr. Chepke is the most caring, knowledgeable doctor I have ever met. My stepson and I have seen him jointly for almost three years now. My stepson has seen many doctors in his 28 years and Dr. Chepke is his favorite. His office used to be two minutes from our house. After he moved, the ride to get my stepson picked up and to his office takes about an hour and a half, but we love Dr. Chepke and it's well worth the effort to get there. We're so blessed to have found him!"

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A: You may pay with debit or credit card at the time of service. You will be asked to leave a confidential credit card on file that will be billed for services provided outside the office, like clinical phone calls.

  • A: A brief appointment is generally 20-25 minutes and a standard appointment is generally 45-50 minutes. If you have another therapist and Dr. Chepke or the N.P., Timothy, is mainly helping you with medications, then a brief visit is generally sufficient. If you are doing psychotherapy with Dr. Chepke, then a standard appointment is more appropriate. The type of appointment you need will be discussed with your Provider at the end of your consultation.

  • A: If you contact us within 24 business hours of your appointment you may reschedule with no additional cost, and we will offer the appointment time to someone else. If you cancel the appointment within 24 hours of your appointment or if you miss your appointment, we are unable to offer the appointment to someone else so you will be charged the full amount of the appointment.

  • A: In our experience, doctors spend 1-3 hours per day in "indirect" patient care, doing things like answering email, phone calls, filling out forms, etc. Since most doctors do not bill for these services they tend to limit their availability to you or raise the cost of their office appointments to cover their losses. We believe that it is fair and simple to charge per service based on an hourly rate. If you do not utilize these services, you are not paying for them. On the other hand, when you need these services your doctor is there for you and will not rush you. Please note that your credit card will be charged at the time of service for clinical phone calls. You will not be billed for phone calls relating to scheduling, billing, or other non-clinical questions.
